Thank you to everyone who took part in #AskACurator Day - it was another incredible and very busy day with a lot more participation than last year!

For October, there are two events:

October 13 is #AskAnArchivist which is run by @archivists_org so make sure you follow them! Find more information on their website: https://www2.archivists.org/initiatives/askanarchivist-day

October 20 CultureThemes is running #MusPets - you know the drill, anything with pets can be shared - art, pottery, collars, pet dishes etc.  If you allow pets in your museums or on the grounds, encourage your visitors to post their photos also! Or if you have a pet as a mascot for your museum - share away!

And Mark Your Calendar as #LoveTheatreDay is November 17th 202.

First, I apologise for not running CultureThemes in July.  It was the first month I think I ever didn't run something since creating the account but I finally got to spend time with my family and with the pandemic I hope everyone understands how important it was.

Second, yes, #AskACurator will run this year!  It's September 15th and as always, will be across whatever platform you feel most comfortable with.

June is Pride month so feel free to share throughout the month! #MusPride

On June 16th #MusPride will be asking everyone to take part in sharing your Pride-related collections.

It could be a painting, an object, a pin, an item from the shop, a story you learned about or whatever you want to share.

This is an example from the Natural History Museum London in 2019

June is #PrideMonth, so join us as we celebrate all the wonderful #queer diversity found throughout the natural world.

It's very a very exciting time for many museums and galleries because May 17th they can officially open again in the UK!  I know that many countries have already opened and I just been a little (A LOT) jealous.

In honor of the opening, I'm asking people to share #WhyIMissedMuseums and as usual, share any way you'd like.  You can post your first visit back, or say what part you missed the most or maybe a specific piece of art you missed.

Again feel free to share on any platform you'd like.

Once again we are going to support Citizen Science Month for April!

April is all about seeing what Citizen Science is all about.  Using #CitSciMonth @CitSciMonth, you can share events you're involved in or what to take part in. They have a calendar of themes and hashtags for each day!  See their website and make sure you get involved! You can follow them on Twitter and Instagram.

Can you believe CultureThemes is now celebrating its 10th anniversary?  And while this month was going to be related to what is happening worldwide with the virus, maybe it's best that we go back to basics.

Museums, libraries, galleries, houses, parks, etc are going through a very difficult period.  Staff is unsure if they will remain open, or if they should go to work. The public feels the same way - wanting to support museums but unsure how.

It's almost like Groundhogs Day but in January ...

Whoosh - that would be the sound of a year flying by.

Is everyone ready for year SEVEN of #MuseumSelfie?  Yup - I can't believe it either but year 7 of the FUN hashtag day is almost here!

Whether you work in a museum, are a museum mascot or one of the lovely visitors - post your pictures using #MuseumSelfie!  Feel free to follow @MuseumSelfieDay on Twitter and Instagram.

Please note:  this is FUN.

Our next CultureThemes is going to be a repeat as I've been asked to bring back the hugely popular #MusMeme - a day to share memes all about museums, galleries, art, collections, etc. on December 9th!

The general idea is to let the public and museums have a bit of creative license and fun with collections.

Maybe you can ask your followers to be creative like Royal Ontario Museum did during their #ROMmeme campaign - using their collection and asking the public to meme it.

#LoveTheatreDay is back on Wednesday November 18, 2020.

Please don't let the name fool you, this is also a day for culture venues to share their love/collection of all things Theatre!

Follow @LoveTheatreDay on Twitter and Instagram

The day will celebrate theatre around the world using #LoveTheatreDay on Twitter and other social media platforms.

This year #AskaCurator is celebrating its 10th anniversary and so pleased that Jim Richardson who originally created the hashtag is back on the team to help support it.  I'm copying from his website as there are resources and more information you can find there.

Ask a Curator is back on 16th September 2020. As a previous participant in the event, we'd love you to join in on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or wherever your museum is active.

You can find out more about this years event here.
